Check the balance is working properly.Keep away other chemicals which are not listed in section 3.2.

1.Follow the responsibilities from section 3.1.During the experiment: Place the sieve on top of the100 mL beaker.

Squeeze the lime on the sieve.Carefully pour tap water in the beaker up to I00 mL mark. Use a funnel to prevent Overflow of water.

This is the lime water solution.Measure 1 Lb of 5%acetic acid by mass by difference using 50 mL Beaker. (Follow section3.4.1).Now take 10 drops of lime water solution and pour it on the acetic acid beaker using a Pasteur pipette. Transfer this mixture to a 1000 mL beaker and add water up to 1000 mL mark. Transfer the mixture in a spray bottle and keep it in room temperature.After the experiment:Clean all the apparatus 3 times with soap, 3 times with water.Dispose the fibre that are on the sieve in the disposal bin and than clean it with tap water.Calculations:Process for calculating Mass by difference Calculate the mass of 1L beaker.Example: A. assume mass of 1000 mL beaker is 100 lb. B.

Add 5% acetic acid until it shows 101 lbMass of empty 1L beaker + 5% acetic acid = 101 lb (its an example)(Mass of empty 1L beaker + 5% acetic acid) – (Mass of empty 1 L beaker) = mass of acetic acid.Ratio of acetic acid and water= 1lb: 1LTroubleshooting:In case of any unpleasant odor add lime water using a Pasteur pipette (dropwise) until it cut the smell of 5 % acetic acid. If % acetic acid weighed out more than 1 lb. Add increased amount of water followed by the calculation in 3.4.

1.The final solution will appear as clear solution. If not check cleanliness of beaker and glass rod.in this case the procedure must start from the beginning.
