Society is divided on the LGBT community

Society is divided on the LGBT community. Let me break down the LGBT community for you, (a lesbian is a woman who experience sexual, romantic, physical, and/or spiritual attraction to other woman. Gay is used in some cultural settings to represent men who are attracted to men in a romantic, erotic and/or emotional sense, Not all men who engage in same-gender sexual behavior identify as gay, and as such this label should be used with caution. Bisexual is a person who experiences sexual, romantic, physical, and/or spiritual attraction to people of their own genders as well as the opposite gender. And last Transgender, which is a person who lives as member of a gender other than that expected based on sex or gender assigned birth. Sexual orientation varies and is not dependent on gender identity. There is two types of transgenders, a trans woman and a trans man. A trans woman is an identity label sometimes adopted by male-to-female trans people to signify that they are women while still affirming their transgender history. A trans man is an identity label sometimes adopted by female-to-male trans people to signify that they are women still affirming their transgender history.) www.vanderbilt.edu/lgbtqi/resources/definitions. The government in some states support the movement on the other hand, other states will not allow this or do not agree. My personal thought is I do not agree with the states that do not approve. Most people tradition is for men and women to get married. Society’s problem today is that people are getting involved with other’s personal choices. No one should be able to tell someone how to live their life and who to like. People should accept people for who they are and what they like. The purpose of this paper is to argue that, people apart of the LGBT community cannot reproduce sexually and it is not a good look for society. The 14 amendment refers to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The pursuit of happiness means that everyone has the right to be happy however they want, even if anyone else does not like it. Majority of the people in the world believes that everyone should be happy whether it is approved or not. For example, at church there could be a service that may be held that people could explain the sex that they may like. They may talk about how they are unwanted by people they love because of what they like, but at the end of the day it is not their decision to make. Due to religious reasons, different genders belong together and should be happy that way but things can happen to people for them not to like that certain sex.
The LGBT Community have higher mental health rates than any of the other populations. Mental illness affects the mood, and thinking behavior, which may be the cause of depression and anxiety that the victim is going through because he or she is not accepted by a person. These mental health conditions can lead to the victim changing their behavior from time to time. They also have higher rates of obesity, unsafe alcohol habits, and drug use. LGBT people are more likely to self harm as well as make suicide attempts. The conditions they face develop different responses to certain scenarios such as being threatened or bashed when out in the streets. Most feel guilty and ashamed about their sexuality in the face of negative messages being issued by society around them. Young gays face more backlash than older ones, from peers around them and even their parents. It has been estimated that 1,500 gay and lesbian youth commit suicide every year and thirty percent are under the age of fifteen. Eighty percent of gay and lesbian youth report severe social isolation. According to statistics approximately twenty-eight percent of gay and lesbian youth drop out of high school because of the discomfort they feel due to verbal and physical abuse in the school environment. (Remafedi, 1987, as cited in “Today’s Gay Youth” n.d., n.p.) Young people who are LGBT and “out” to their immediate families report feeling happier than those who are still “in the closet”. I contacted a transgender male and asked did he ever experienced hate comments in public, on social media, or if somebody every treated him bad because of his sexuality and he responded with ” Oh yes I get hate comments all the time. It is a daily thing now all because I am minding my business and different than the forced ┬┤norm “. People who tend to be a homosexual or wanting to be another sex is most likely to be bullies by people. Bullying is a form of picking on a person to do what they want them do to and making fun of them. It is unfair for lgbt victim to be treated differently than other people because it is discriminating a person because of what they like or want. As the increase of bullying gradually continues, it causes people to self- harm themselves because of what is happening and brought onto them. These mental illnesses can cause severe disturbance and behavior due to the mental health disorders and also has and includes excessive stress due to the situations and events that occurred.

Everyday someone from the LGBT community gets attacked, roughly transgenders. Transgender deaths by malignant violence has increased dramatically over the past three years. ” his is an epidemic of violence against people from marginalized communities in this country, and it is an epidemic that is rising,” (Sarah Mcbride, national press secretary for the HRC. In 2017, advocates tracked at least twenty-nine deaths of transgender people in the U.S. due to untreatable violence, that is the most ever recorded. Now in 2018 there has already been twenty-one transgender (www.hrc.org/resources/violence) people lethally shot or killed by other violent means. LGBT victims experience hate crimes and/or incidents due to their sexual orientation that is not accepted by other people in the world. LGBT peers says the biggest problems that they are facing are unaccepting families. For example, in 2013, a young 8-year-old boy by the name of Gabriel Fernandez, who lived in Palmdale, California, was brutally beaten, starved , tortured, and forced to sleep in a closet by his mother and her boyfriend all because they thought he was gay. In the meanwhile, a man in Nevada murdered his 14-year-old son, Giovanni Melton, because he could not accept the fact that his was gay and liked the same sex. Criticism is one of the main disapprovals of LGBT because many people are against homosexuality because of the religion they believe. Discriminating individuals is very antagonizing and disrespectful towards the victim and people who are against it. The LGBT Community is being terribly harassed by our citizens of America in their everyday lives, just for them being true to themselves and who they really are. Our world today fail to realize that being a lesbian, gay, bi sexual, or transgender does not determine who you are nor your character. Everyone should be able to walk somewhere such as the store, mall, and other places like those, and feel proud about who they are as an individual. No woman, man, child, or teenager should feel as though their lives are in danger, or at stake, due to the fact that they are not wanted in this world by most people in our generation. Plenty of people are being judged based on their changed gender. In fact, people have been committed suicide because of what people are telling them which is mean. No one has the right to change anyone life. People are being intimidated just because that person is either gay, a lesbian, bi sexual, or a transgender. The negative sayings on what people think of gay people can lead to increasing of tension. Besides this can cause a very unsafe environment to those in the LGBT community. “Those opposed to homosexuality regularly describe being gay as a choice, to despite all evidence to the contrary”, states Dean Burnett. Therefore, if anyone choose to turn gay, then it is their choice. Modern science is working to show that genetics is one of the causes of being gay, although some science conflicts in this area. According to Psychology Today,
“In recent years, evidence has accumulated that a homosexual orientation is inherited. Study of family history reveals that homosexual men have more homosexuals in their family tree than do heterosexuals.”The precise genes involved in the causes of being gay have not yet been identified but they appear to come from the mother. Additionally, some studies have found that the brains from homosexuals differ from the brains of heterosexuals. The connections in the amygdala and the corpus callosum have both been shown to be different depending on the sexual orientation of the individual. The real question is, does this really matter if a person is an adult, is it anyone’s business whom he or she is attracted to or has sexual relations with? Whether science can ultimately prove the biology of being gay or not, it’s important to support all adults in their choices no matter how they identify says Natasha Tracy. I myself have witnessed people go through bad things just for being themselves. It is hard for them to do things and I feel bad for them in this society today. Especially with Donald Trump being President of the United States.
