McDonald’s is an American multinational corporation which selling fast food. It was founded by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California, United States in 1940 as a restaurant. Then, they rechristened their business as a hamburger stand. Hereafter, Ray Kroc, a businessman joined the company as a franchise agent and he continued to buy the chain from the McDonald brothers in 1955. In the beginning, McDonald’s had originally headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, but then has approved plan to move its global headquarters to Chicago by 2018.As of 31 December 2016, McDonald’s becomes the world’s largest restaurant chain by revenue which serve more than 69 million customers daily in over 100 countries across about 36,900 outlets worldwide.
The well-known products of McDonald’s such as hamburgers, cheeseburgers, French fries, chicken products, breakfast items, wraps, milkshakes, soft drinks as well as desserts. In order to change their customers tastes and negative reaction due to the unhealthiness of their food, McDonald’s has decided to add some healthy food to its menu such as fish, fruits, smoothies and salads. As of 2016, McDonald’s Corporation has about US$24.622 billion revenue. The revenue of McDonald’s Corporation comes from the royalties, rental, and fees that paid by the franchisees, and the sales in company-operated restaurants.
Based on the report by BBC in 2012, McDonald’s is the world’s second largest private employer with approximately 1.5 million of whom work for franchises.
