Literature ReviewUnderpinning TheoryThis study is anchored on the Theory of Constructivism by Jean Piaget which states learning theories, teaching methods, and education reform are the factors that affect a student’s performance.
Teachers in this theory function as a facilitator to help the students when it comes to their own understanding instead of just focusing on the teacher and lecture. Teachers following the theory of constructivism must challenge the student by making them effective critical thinkers and not being merely a “teacher” but also a mentor, a consultant, and a coach. It is also stated that assimilation or the use of an existing knowledge to deal with a new object or situation and accommodation or the changing of understanding to deal with a new object or situation are the two of the key components which create an individual’s new knowledge. With these supporting details, the researchers anchored this research paper to the theory of constructivism to be the guide in conducting this study. With this theory, the researchers need to show how learning theories, teaching methods, and education reform specifically the K-12 program prepared the ABM senior high pioneers in USLT for a college education. It is also needed that the researchers must show and explain how assimilating and accommodating occurs to the first graduate of the ABM strand under the K-12 program and how it affects them with their preparation for college.
