It has not been proven by studies that designers live longer but we are sure we do.
Due to the fact that we have a passion to keep going until we have complete our mission and even after that we will keep on going.We live for designWe are so passionate about design that we constantly think about design from the moment we wake up in the morning till we go to sleep even dreaming about it futher. We become so obbessive that it can cause issues with our partner that we can’t even go out on a romatic date without anaylising the menu. They look at you wondering why you have to do this everytime we go out but you can’t help yourself it is just the designer in you. We have a fired–up purpose and that will be the reason for us living longer.
When we are working on a new project that is going to change the world it makes our lives worth living for and makes you live longer.Socialising what is that?We have tight deadlines that makes us work long hours and that personal project we are working on the side. So there is no time to go out for a drink so our changes of getting liver and heart disease is lower. We only have a drink at an event where you meet other designers and where you can learn something from.We don’t need a excuse to laughWe have the ability to laugh more then other proffessioanls due to having to deal with bizarre clients at times that we learn to laugh to cope without driving ourselves crazy. Research have proven that the more you laugh the longer you live. You learn to laugh when a client wants you to design a site without any content instead of getting all pumped up up over it.
When you would rather want to say to them get out of my office you are wasting my time, you say instead no, why don’t we discuss the content of the site and the purpose before we start designing.We don’t have much time to watch TVResearched have found that people that watch tv for one hour can shorten they life by 22 minutes. We are always looking for the next job or interacting with a designer on twitter or taking on a personal project. So that means we don’t have much time to watch tv. When we do have time to watch tv we will watch a movie or two and play a video game. Yes, even designers need some down time because we are not robots.
We love helping out other peopleAfter the 10th change of a client they don’t just feel like a client “people” to us anymore. It feels good to help people achieve their goals because that is after all what our job is all about. You can go futher and reach out to local charity and do something design related for them and even learn them your skills.We live hazard freeLuckliy we don’t have to handle dangerous substances or lifts heavy objects on a daily basis because it will probably kill or injure us. The heaviest thing we lift on a dialy basic is probably our laptops.
That still doesn’t mean design is not hard work.
