It must be obligatory in educationalsystem of Pakistan to provide free and necessary education to (5-16 years old)children.

They also have to support adult literacy rate.The education system in Pakistan isdivided into five levels:1)     primary(1-5th standard)2)     Middle(6th-8th standard)3)     High(9th-10thstandard)4)     Intermediate(11th-12thstandard)5)     University(undergraduateand graduate)1) Primary level:This level ofeducation is stirred from British system of education. In this system a pre-schooleducation is planned for the children of 3-5 years old. It is consists of 2stages i.e. playgroup and nursery. After pre-school education, students promoteto 1-5th standard i.e.

junior school. It has been noticed that only80% of Pakistani students finish primary level of education.2) Middle level:       Afterpassing 5th standard examination, students are promoted to middlelevel                                                 of education i.e. 6th-8thstandard. In middle level, gender base system is applied i.e. co-education isnot prefer in rural areas while it is common in some urban areas.

Subjects in middle level:In middle level, eightsubjects are most commonly taught in schools i.e. Urdu, English, Math’s, Science,Social Studies, Islamiyat and Computer. The subjects are also depends upon thenature of school either it is Urdu medium or English medium.3) High level:After passing 8thstandard examination, students are promoted to high level of education i.e.

9th-10thstandard which is also called secondary level of education. Students arerequired to pass the examination lanned  by board of intermediate and secondaryeducation (BISE).Upon passing these two examinations of 9th and 10thstandard, students are awarded .

Secondary School Certificate (SSC) which isalso called matriculation certificate.Subjects in high level:In high level, there iscombination of eight subjects which includes elective subjects such as Biology,Chemistry, Physics and Computer and compulsory subjects such as Math’s, Urdu ,English, Islamiyat and Pak-Studies.4) Intermediate level:Students are promotedto intermediate level after successfully passing 10th standard examination.After passing 11th-12th examination by BISE, students are awardedHigher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) which is an important document ofstudent’s CV. There are many groups of education choose by students for theirintermediate level i.e.

pre-medical, pre-engineering, humanities, commerce and computer.Subjects in intermediate level:In intermediate level,there is a combination of six subjects, which includes 3 elective subjectsregarding to the group of education choose by students and three compulsory subjectsi.e.

English, Urdu, Islamiyat(in 11th standard) and Pak-studies(in12th standard).5)University level:After passing intermediatelevel of education, students usually promoted to the professional degrees i.e.Bachelors. Bachelor programs are usually offered by Universities and professionalcolleges which have a no. of different programs or courses mostly of 4-5 years ofstudy. BS courses are usually Engineering, Business, MBBS, DVM, LLB, BDS, Architecture,pharmacy, nursing etc. there are certain boards that controls the examinationsystem of these universities known as PMDC.

Students also prefer bachelors of Arts(BA), commerce (B.Com) and science (B.Sc).At university level,there are two types of bachelor programs i.e. pass and honors. In pass degree,students usually read 3 optional subjects and it is of 2 years study program. Honorsprograms are usually 4 years of study   and students are specialized in a chosenflied.

After completion ofB.A/B.Sc, students are moved to Master degree program which is 2 years ofeducation to get the degree of Master program. After completion of Master Programthere is an M.phil degree which is available in certain selected areas of researchafter that PhD program is available which is based on research work and studentsusually refer those universities which are involve in research work of particularfields. In Pakistan, M.

phil and PhD requires 2 years of study.Adult Literacy Adult literacy is alsovery important to provide opportunity of education to the older people.There are “AdultEducation Centers”, run by the Government. Adult literacy is importance becauseof the following reasons: i) Want to improve one’s ability and understandingin respect of one’s  profession.ii) The people want to use their freetime usefully and thus want to improve their knowledge. iii) For increasing public attention in maritaland unknown affairs, education is essential.

Educational Problems in Pakistan:Pakistan faces a lot of problems in regards to its educational system. Someof these problems are:Different mediums ofeducation:The education system of Pakistan is based on two mediums i.e. English mediumand Urdu medium that divides the students into two segments. Most commonly itsis noticed that private schools are usually English medium and governmentschools are Urdu medium.

Local differences are also the major cause of pooreducational system of Pakistan.
