For the live performance critique, I decided toattend Disneys’ Beauty and the Beast at “the Media Theater Performing of theArts”. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast play took place at the box office of TheMedia Theater location.
The venue of the theater was so beautiful I have neverseen anything like it before. The way the theater was designed, was magical asif you were experiencing the real Disney moment. The”pre-show” of the play was well organized. The staff member treated people verywell with a warm welcome in the venue of the box office.
At the entrance door, they welcome you with postcard of the Disney’s Beauty and the Beast performingshow. There were quite a number of people in line buying the ticket at the boxoffice booth. It’s was convenient for me to get in very easy for me to get inbecause I didn’t have to wait in line for several minutes because I had alreadypay for my ticket in advance.
Once at the front of the show right before youenter, there are other shows advertised so that people can see what is beingshown on the theater schedule. In front of the ticket booth the staff memberwas asking people about if it was a first time for them attending the show. Ifnot, there were telling them about the overall history of their theater as wellas how many shows they present to the audience per week. I was so in love thetheater especially the way they welcome you and make you comfortable before theshow begins. Once inside the Venue, you can see the nice set up of the scenewell organized with beautiful light and designed. Everything was set to almostDiseney’s standard. The show waswell depicted as well each character played a specific role in the play.
Theplay ultimately center around a character called Belle, a beautiful girl who issymbolized by “Beauty”, and the Beast, who is really a prince stuck under the curseof a magician. The Beast in the cast need to learn how to love and be loved so that the spellwill end.Overall, I would say I have very much enjoyed the cast of thewhole show of Beauty and the Beast that I attended last week at The MediaTheater for the Performing Art. Beauty and the Beast is a great Disney movieand I remember I used to watch it over and over again. I was very happy withthe way the characters performed the play. When I was watching the show, automaticallyI tough of a fairytale. The performer of the show made the Beauty and the Beastrole a special show and they all work tirelessly together to make the show moreexcitement and enjoyable.
I loved the way they brought excitement on the sceneand everyone in the audience have loved it. Over all I had a nice experiencewatching the show. The part I enjoyed the most was the fact how joyful the characterwas on the scene.
Everyone was so excited and they did a very good jobpresenting to the audience. When it comes to the characters, I think everyone playedtheir part well. You could see and feel the excitement and enjoyment of presentingthis show to the audience. Alanna J. Smith who played Belle is a young strong, smart, andindependent woman. Her character really showed the true beauty of the Beautyand the Beast. Garret Jay Yoder who portray the Beast did not really show the strong and affectionatelove toward Alanna in the play.
I think he played a little soft, maybe because ofthe love he had toward Alanna. But he interacts well with the beauty. BobStineman who represents Gaston in the play is absolutely the complete oppositeof the Beast. He is self-centered and not very happy.
I think he does not attractmore attention in the play because of his anger. I have seen manyother play but I have never felt such a sense of happiness like I did withBeauty and the Beast at The Media Theater of Performing Art. The young children inthe audience were dressed in the yellow Belle dress and the air in theauditorium was wonderful. The Young age of the cast was a wonderful touch.Beauty and the Beast reach out to a young audience. The ages made the productionhave an enhanced fairytale feeling.
When I decided to go to this particularproduction and realized it was going to be put on by a cast of 18 and younger, Ididn’t expect it to be well played and thought it would have an elementaryfeeling to it, but I was very wrong and felt as if the ages chosen for thisDisney production was an excellent decision. I believe it would be hard toportray the innocence needed for many of the characters of Beauty and the Beastif you chose anyone other than children or young teens. My reasoning forchoosing Beauty and the Beast was my love for fairytales and Disney movies ingeneral. Beauty and the Beast was always my favorite Disney movie growing up thecharacters were my favorite. My son is a big fan of Disney’s movies as well.
Infact, my husband and I took him to Disney where we all enjoy our time there.Beauty and the Beast remind me of the magical movie Disney’s itself play at theMagical Kingdom in Disney Land. I love the way it takes you to a differentworld and you suddenly forget all that’s going on in your life. It was a good feelingduring the show and it felt like on a fairytale world with the excellent vocal, well sustains, fun and original creative costumes.
The costumes in the Beautyand The Beast was more fictional and well designed by the producer during theshow and there was a distinction to which you could not be confused to whichcharacter is playing which role. were. Each cast member was right on target asthey transformed into the character they were portraying, all the way to thedifferent accents, which was surprising to me as it seems it would be verydifficult.
I am satisfied with the choice I made to go to this particularproduction it was well beyond my expectations and very enjoyable. I wouldattend this play again and again. I look forward to attending another productioncast. I have attended many other shows, but I thinkthis particular play was definitely a perfect holiday treat for the audiences.
