Cipher – Villain of the story
Her name is Cipher. That is how everyone in the shadows knows her. Her birth name (Saffron Waters) is only known by those who are not aware of her shadow identity. She is 26 years old. Cipher works as a supermarket cashier. She has a good aim, able to shoot anything, from knives to bullets. The one person in the world whom she cares about is a 17 year old boy (Chris). He is a brotherly figure, always there for her, despite his youth, carelessness and apparent innocence.
Cipher has had a very troubled childhood. She was the illegitimate child of a rich lady. Her mother raised her in secret in the house basement. Cipher had a sibling whom she loved (Daniel) but her mother (Eva) killed him due to the fact that he was not a very quick learner, nor was he violent. Eva raised Cipher while torturing her, constantly pushing her to her limits, in order to make her invincible. In Cipher’s final test, (prepared by Eva) Cipher killed her mother ; her legitimate son (Julian). Later, she read that in her will, Eva had left Cipher everything that belonged to her. Already, she was feared among the shadows, as she had made a name for herself by completing her mother’s impossible assassination tasks. Now, taking Eva’s place in the hierarchy, she was incomparably powerful.
When Chris was alive, he used to teach Cipher how to code. After his death, she did it religiously, excelling at it. She has a determined personality, very stubborn and a very strong will. Cipher likes the feeling of being in danger, the rush of adreline. Her favourite dialogue is ‘My first instinct is to push you, and keep pushing you, just to see how long it will take for you to snap. Fear doesn’t paralyse you, it wakes you up’. Her favourite quote is ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’. Her goal in life is to erase bad from humanity by controlling people through lines of code. She wants to make sure that there is nobody in the world who suffers the way she has in her childhood. However good her intentions are, she will stop at nothing to get what she wants, even if it means losing everything she has.
