Besides GPA, Southwest Tech also identifies and c academic excellence of students through Phi Theta Kappa. Phi Theta Kappa is an international honour society that duration for two-years institutions which recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-years college students.
To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunities for developing leadership and service skills, exchanging ideas and ideals, developing life-long friendships between scholars, and stimulating interest in continuing academic excellence. Students who achieve an overall 3.5 cumulative GPA having completed 12 or more credits in an associate degree program and are invited by the College President are eligible for the annual induction in the Beta Rho Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. A Phi Theta Kappa member whose GPA falls between 3.
0 and 3.5 is placed on club probation. Processes identified in Phi Theta Kappa by laws are implemented.
A member whose GPA falls below 3.0 will be dismissed from the honour society.
