Beginning on July 10, 1925, the Scopes Evolution Trial, widely known as the Scopes Monkey Trial, started out as a simple trial between creationists and evolutionists but quickly became a case that changed America . The Butler Act was put in place after evangelical believers started a movement called fundamentalism. Fundamentalism was the evangelical movement that taught the literal interpretation of the bible.
