Applying S.M.A.
R.T Goals In early eighteens published Gorge T. Doran, who worked in Washington water power company as a consultant and former director of corporate planning, a paper called, “There’s a S.M.A.R.T.
Way to Write Management’s Goals and Objectives.” He explained how the importance of setting objective goal is, and how can put criteria to guide people to accomplish their goals. There are five techniques for setting effective goals.
The first step to setting goals is to be specific goals. Setting a goal, be specific and identified the details of what exactly you want to accomplish. Be clarify of who will involve in the goal, or who you need to achieve your goal. Identify the location that you will work on it.
Determine any requirements or obstacles. Specify your reason for your goal to encourage you to achieve it. For example, if your goal to lose weight, it should be losing 10 kilograms in 2 months, and you will go to the gym that is near of your work for five times a week and ask a coach to guide your food and training to achieve your satisfying weight. However, you need amount of money to register in the gym, decide the time to train before, after the work, or on the break, and do not eat junk food in. In other hand, if you do not specify the place, time, and other details, it will be hard to be satisfied to lose appropriate weight and fulfill your goal. The second step is to have measurable goals.
you should know such the metrics as amounts, times, dates, and many other measures that you will use to determine if you meet your goal or not. Measure your10 kilograms you want to lose in two months, so 5 kilograms you will lose in each month. Also, do exercise 5 times a week for two hours a day, and eat three healthy main courses and two snacks daily. If you do not have measure amounts, dates, and time that would be hard to lose weight because you always delay starting diet or exercise. The third step to achieve your goal is to be attainable or acceptable.
An attainable goal that is possible to complete and achieve, so that depend on how your goal is important for you, and what require changing of your attitude, developing skills, and keeping available time to make your goal achievable. For example, you should to determine two hours for five days to go to the gym, sleep eight hours daily, and change your food habits. If you are setting challenging goal you can not achieve it, you will lose the balance of your life, and that will affect negatively in your future goal. The four step is setting relevant goal.
Relevant goal that goal go with your vision life. If the goal is relevant to the direction of your life, it will encourage and develop you to focus in your whole life. When your vision of your life is to be healthy, your responsibility is to lose weight, do exercise and eat healthy food and drink two liter every day.
