We have wonderful attractions spots, our government is very open to the community, and our physical geography is amazing . There are many historical sites including the Parthenon, Acropolis, and Erechtheion. The Parthenon is dedicated to the goddess Athena, goddess of wisdom, courage and warfare. A huge constructional undertaking by any standard parthenon in every sense is the symbolic manifestation of the apical power of Athens. The grandiose temple was roughly completed in 438 BC.The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a high rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance.
The Erechtheion was built to accommodate the religious rituals that the old temple housed. It derived its name from a shrine dedicated to the legendary Greek hero Erichthonius. The temple as seen today was built between 421 and 406 BC. There are also some museums that have some pretty interesting items.
( Museums In Athens ). The National Archaeological Museum has an impressive collection spanning from the seventh millennium BC until the fifth century AD. Sculptures and prehistoric treasures are on the ground floor. The large vase collection occupies most of the museum’s second floor. The Benakis museum came from Antonis Benakis who had donated his collecting art to the greek state.
The museums exhibits give a chronological overview of the history of greek art and crafts from the prehistoric times to the modern age. The government of Greece is a parliamentary democracy (Government And Politics ) . The people elect 300 parliamentary deputies who form the the parliament which conducts the legislative duties of the government . The political party which can collect 151 seats or more in the parliament assumes the duties of the administration. The party president automatically becomes Prime Minister and he then appoints people to become cabinet minister. There is a president but he is not elected by the people. Instead, he is elected by the parliamentary deputies for 5 years terms at a time.
The important holidays in Greece are Easter, Apokries (carnival season), August 15th (saint’s day of the virgin Mary), March 25th (Independence Day), October 28th (ochi day) and agios pnevmatos which is a moveable feast 40 days after Easter and is a 3 day weekend when many people leave Athens for the islands and villages. ( Holidays In Greece ) Other important holidays are clean Monday and May Day on May 1st. In Athens, capital of Greece, the climate is Mediterranean, with mild and moderately rainy winters, and hot and sunny summers. The humidity does not add considerably to the heat you during the hottest days either.
Combine mild temperatures with few rainy days. Precipitation is not abundant, since it amounts to about (16 inches) a year. From March through May the weather in Athens is pleasant and mild in spring. June through August are the peak temperatures in summer. Fall temperatures are similar to the Spring temperatures.
Winter months are also the rainy months in Athens. Athens, Greece, has relatively mild weather, with the average daytime temperatures ranging from 52 degrees fahrenheit January to 92 degrees in August. Chaparral or mediterranean forests, wood lands, and shrub is a temperate biome, characterized by hot-dry summers and mild and rainy winters.These are my supporting reasons why you should to come our country .
